Snow Day!

Round 1: We started out pretty early this morning with a trip to the field by the boys' school with our neighbors.

The snow was really slushy, so our cardboard sleds didn't work too well. Lucky for us, some other people were there with real sleds and they very generously shared.

Unfortunately round 1 didn't end too well. I ended up bringing the boys home while Kenna stayed a little longer with our neighbors. Both boys cried and whined all the way home - not my idea of a fun snow day!

After dry clothes, hot chocolate by the fire, and a movie everyone was ready to go out for round 2, which involved playing in the backyard and building snowmen.

Dixie loved the snow:

Dixie also loved trying to catch the snowballs that the kids threw in the air for her. If they threw one across the yard she would go after it to "fetch" it, and then would stand perplexed over the spot where it landed.

Camden made this "snow oval":

Cullen and Grant made a snow cowboy:

Kenna and Maddie made a snow-woman:

After getting soaked, the kids headed back in for lunch and more hot chocolate. They were back out later for two more rounds - once just down the street and another trip to sled at the school. It brought back memories of snow days when I was a kid - layering up the clothes, staying out until we were soaked, going to one house and having snacks while our outer layers of clothes went through the dryer, and then heading out to do it all over again, taking our break at a different friend's house each time. Fun times!
