Great Date!

Robert took me on a fabulous birthday date on Saturday night. When we got in the car to leave the house, this treasure box was on my seat, containing five envelopes, numbered 1-5. The first one contained a gift card to Carino's (one of my favorite restaurants), where we then went for dinner. After dinner, I opened the second envelope and found a gift card for Barnes and Noble, where I bought the latest Nicholas Sparks book; I also picked up a book by Jan Karon (another of my favorite authors), off the bargain rack. Envelope #3 held a card to Bath and Body Works, so we headed to the mall for some new shower gel and lotion. The fourth envelope held a Best Buy gift card. I was a little puzzled by this one at first, but then Robert reminded me that I had asked for a new alarm clock. The final envelope contained the best gift by far. Robert had made a gift card for "Bob's Bath House and Pedicure Palace". He used some of his own photography for the background and did such a professional job that I was trying to figure out where he had ordered this customized gift card. The card can be redeemed 38 times (since it was my 38th birthday) for "the works" (bubble bath, massage, foot rub) and the expiration date is October 30, 2010 - the day before my 40th birthday. The card states that if I redeem it 38 times by the expiration date, I'll receive a trip to the tropical destination of my choice - not a bad way to spend my 40th birthday! After Robert's 40th this summer, I had told him that I wanted to take a trip for my 40th, but I had forgotten about that request - I'm glad someone was paying attention!

It was a really wonderful date and birthday gift. Not only did I get pretty much all of the gift ideas I had given to Robert, but I had the fun of shopping for them myself and the pleasure of spending the time with Robert. Thanks, Sweetheart!

How sweet - that Robert sure is a keeper! So romantic...I think I'll print some ideas out for Papa or maybe Robert could coach him. So happy y'all are still so in love.
