Fun Three Day Weekend

The kids were off school on Monday for Columbus Day, so we took advantage of the three day weekend to go visit some friends in Austin and spend a day at Sea World in San Antonio.

The kids had never been to the State Capitol Building, so we thought it was about time.

We spent Saturday night in Austin with my college roommate and her family, the McGilvrays, and then got up Sunday morning and drove to San Antonio. I had been watching the weather all week and the forecast was for a high of 75 and a 10% chance of rain. Perfect weather for Sea World, right? Well, it rained all day. So much for the forcast.

But, while the weather wasn't great, we did have a great time. We stopped on the way for rain ponchos and managed to stay reasonably dry while watching the shows and riding a few rides.

The boys loved the Shamu roller coaster. You can see Cullen in this picture with his hands up in the second car from the front:

Cullen enjoyed feeding and petting this dolphin:

Kenna desperately wanted to pet a dolphin, but in order to do that you have to hold the fish over its mouth while petting it, and then toss the fish in. She kept getting freaked out by the teeth and would just throw her fish in before petting the dolphin. I can't say I blame her, the teeth do look a little fierce:

The McGilvray's joined us at Sea World and the kids had a great time together:

Here's our group with a couple of the characters:
Looking at this picture I just noticed that Alexa is positioned in front of Robert and I and our kids are in front of Adam and Nicole - our kids look so natural with them, maybe I'll see if they're interested in trading with us, just for a few days, of course!

We headed back to Austin Sunday night and spent Monday morning hanging out. The kids loved playing with Alexa and the McGilvray's big black dog, "Vader" (yes, that's as in Darth Vader!).
