Last Saturday we had our first ever Mission Denton Christmas Store and Party. Mission Denton is a ministry that we are involved in through our church. Our mission is "taking church to the people" and we hold Bible studies each week in local apartment and mobile home communities, in order to reach those who might not come to a "traditional" church. For our Christmas Store last week, we took cars, vans, and a bus to pick up the kids from all five of our location churches and brought them to our church facility. Members of our congregation had donated wonderful gift items and the kids were able to "shop" for gifts for their parents at no charge. We had tables full of great gifts and the kids loved getting to pick out just the right presents for their parents.

In addition to shopping at the store, the kids had a pizza lunch, played in a bounce house, did crafts, and heard the message of salvation through the telling of the "Legend of the Candy Cane".
They also got to pick out a book to take home for themselves.

As the kids arrived, we took their pictures. Someone had donated photo cards, so each child received a framed photo. Here's the picture of our kids:

It was a crazy day, and a crazy week leading up to it, but all the work was worth it! We're already thinking about next year's store and how we can improve upon our efforts from this year!
