Campers Have S'more Fun!

Okay, I know that my post title is totally corny, but I saw it on a flag at a campsite when we were camping last weekend, and I couldn't resist using it. We went camping at Tyler State Park with a couple of other families, and we really did have a lot of fun! We had days full of activity and mealtimes full of yummy camp food!

We spent one morning fishing. The park rangers provided the poles, the bait, and some instruction for the kids - who could pass up that opportunity?

The boys loved playing with the bait:

No one actually caught anything, but they had fun casting (and feeding the tiny fish that would come up and eat the bait right off the hooks!)

Since the park rangers (and Kevin) were helping the kids, Robert got to take some pictures, while Kim and I got a chance to sit and relax:

To beat the heat in the afternoons, we went swimming in the lake:

On Sunday morning, we rented boats and toured the small lake.

One of our favorite things about camping is all the yummy foods we get to eat that we don't normally have at home. For breakfast one morning we had biscuit donuts and the kids helped cutting out the donut holes:

At dusk we entertained ourselves by catching fireflys. Actually, some of us were just entertained watching the hunt - Kim was especially fun to watch; I think she got more excited than the kids when she would catch one!

As usual, Robert got some excellent wildlife pictures:
